This past summer, I practically lived in maxi skirt. I paired them with crop tops, t-shirts, loose tank tops, and even sometimes used them as a bathing suit cover-up. The maxi skirt became my go-to for when I wanted to be comfortable but still look cute and chic. I’ve been missing them so much that I know I need to start incorporating them into my winter wardrobe.
With the unseasonably warm weather kicking off November this week, it is hard to imagine the treacherously slushy streets and frigid temperatures in our imminent future. Don’t be fooled by the sunshine: As the saying goes, hope for the best but plan for the worst.
Something about autumn and how we dress makes this season, and us with it, look like a scene from our favorite film. Leaves on the ground, trees going to sleep, sun & rain altogether, windy cool weather, crispy mornings, heads tucked in collars, hands fidgeting in pockets, sipping hot drinks in bohemian artsy or posh bars, hot coffees to go on rushed cold mornings, and us starring in all these scenes, almost always wearing SWEATERS!
Timeless elegance characterizes the best bags for Winter, whether through faraway inspiration, an era revisited, natural leather and graphic luxury skins, metallic details or the season’s dominant colors of black, gray and red. It’s been previously established at The Every girl that the white button-down is a fashion essential. Sometimes you have to state the absolutely bleeding obvious for quite a long time before you get heard. And now, nice clothes with sleeves. Not, perhaps, a cause celebrate of quite the same soul-stirring magnitude but progress nonetheless. Most dresses and tops on sale in Britain in winter have short sleeves – a hangover, I suspect, from the days when we would have been doing the laundry with a bucket and mangle. Those days may have long gone, but the short sleeves have stuck, which is why we as a nation are obsessed with cardigans. But a long-sleeve top, or long-sleeve dress – if you can find one – looks much smarter and more elegant than a nice dress with a cardie over it.
Our relationship with winter coats (or even autumn trench coats) over the years has been both static as well las hectic (much like any human relationship after a while). We’re always together once it gets too chilly to walk around half naked, but we always go back and forth between types of coats. One winter it was the pink coats, then it was the pastel ones, last season we were all dipped in fucking browns and nudes with the camel coats on the rise. Black coats don’t even need to be in for us to wear them, so there’s that. Then it was the wrap coat, the military style, the short styles, the midi styles
